Reception and Orientation Program for the newly admitted students of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) for Spring -2018 Semester was held in the Prof. Dr. M.H. Khan Auditorium of the university at 9:30 A.M. on 21 April 2018. There were two sessions in the program. Prof. Dr. M.H Khan was the chief guest of both sessions of the program and Prof. Dr. Kazi Shariful Alam, Treasurer, AUST was present as the special guest. The sessions were presided over by Prof. Dr. A.M.M. Safiullah, Vice-Chancellor of the university.
The sessions started with the newly admitted students of the Department of Architecture, School of Business, Civil Engineering and Computer Science and Engineering, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Textile Engineering and Mechanical and Production Engineering.
Prof. Dr. M. A. Muktadir, Dean, Faculty of Architecture and Planning, Prof. Dr. Abdur Rahim Mollah, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Amanullah, Dean, Faculty of Business and Social Sciences, Mr. Muhammad Abdul Gafur, Registrar, Dr. Md. Hamidur Rahman Khan, Proctor, Prof. Dr. Sharmin Reza Chowdhury, ASW of AUST were also present on the dais. All new students, teachers, officers and employees of the university were present in that program.
The programme began with the recitation from the Holy Quran
Addressing the freshers as the chief guest of the both sessions Prof. Dr. M H Khan advised the newly enrolled students to study well from the very beginning of the semester as time is valuable and it should not be wasted for any reason. He also inspired the students telling that make this time friend as it will respond you in future and work hard with full force consistently from the beginning. Chief Guest mentioned that open your closed eyes of innovation and ideas to design unique your career. He advised them to keep themselves aloof from life destroying drug addiction and misuse of information and communication technology.
Chair of the sessions Prof. Dr. A.M.M. Safiullah, Vice-Chancellor, AUST warmly welcomed the admitted students and wished them. He added that the university will teach them how to acquire knowledge, Besides bookish education, they have to think critically and should enhance their creative capability to keep pace with the future world. He further added that new idea is being created and the world is looking for such talented. Only result is not evaluated blindly That's why "outcome based" learning is necessary for them to go forward in this modern globalized world. Chair of the program mentioned them adults are viable to take responsibility.
While delivering his speech as the special guest of both the sessions Prof. Dr. Kazi Shariful Alam, Treasurer, AUST said that besides studies, students have to abide by the rules and regulation as rules are strictly followed here. He also focused on some issues for making the students aware about their study and job life. He also presented a brief life sketch of Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah to the freshers.
Mr. Muhammad Abdul Gafur, Registrar, AUST gave some directions to the students about semester fees payment, re-admission, checking the list of promotion etc. Prof. Md. Amirul Alam Khan, Controller of Examinations gave instruction about exam and its procedure to make the students aware from the beginning. In his speech. Prof. Dr. Md. Hamidur Rahman Khan, Proctor drew the attention of the newly admitted students briefing the punishment for those who would involve themselves in any unfair deeds. He also suggested them to be careful and aware of these and added that there is a proctorial team in the university who are always ready to help the newly admitted students when and as needed. Prof. Dr. Sharmin Reza Chowdhury, ASW spoke on students welfare issue. Two sessions programs were conducted by ASW.
A few newly admitted students expressed their cheerful feelings on getting admission in AUST.
The sessions were ended with the spontaneous participation of the newly admitted students and they were very much inspired by the valuable speech delivered by the speakers.
