Freshers Orientation

Orientation and reception ceremony Fall 2008


A day-long program was organized for orientation and reception of the newly admitted students of AUST (Fall-2008) on 18 October 2008 at the permanent campus of the University. Newly admitted students participated in the program.

Orientation Program led by the Heads of the respective Departments along with the Faculty Members, started at 8:00 A.M.. The academic and extra-curricular activities of the university were explained to the students. The course curricula, examination system, rules and regulations, class attendance, discipline etc. were highlighted to them also. Light refreshment was served in the respective department at the end of the orientation program.

The newly admitted students were also accorded welcome centrally at 3:20 P.M. at the newly built permanent campus of the university at 141-142 Love Road, Tejgaon Industrial Area, Dhaka-1208.

Barrister Rafique-ul Huq, Member, AUST Syndicate and Former Attorney General of Bangladesh graced the occasion as chief guest. The function was presided over by Prof. Dr. M. Anwar Hossain, Vice-Chancellor, AUST.

Prof. Dr. Kazi Shariful Alam, Treasurer, Prof. Dr. M.A. Muktadir, Dean, Faculty of Architecture and Planning, Dr. Shyamapada Biswas, Dean, Faculty of Business and Social Sciences, Prof. Dr. A.M. Shadullah, Dean, Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Md. Anwarul Mustafa, Director of Students Welfare, the Heads of the Departments, the Registrar, Teachers and Officers of the university were also present on the occasion.

Prof. Dr. M. Anwar Hossain, Vice-Chancellor said, talent, quality and capability are indispensable factors in the present day job market of global economy. Students will have to attain knowledge about the fundamentals of professionalism, he said. He further said that efforts are being made to transform AUST into a university of international standard. He added that flexibility, quick thinking and quick decision making are important to make a university sustainable and successful.

Barrister Rafique-ul Huq, Member, AUST Syndicate and Former Attorney General of Bangladesh, said, Teachers feel equal pride at students success. That is why, teacher-student relationship has a significant role to play in the university culture. By availing themselves of all the opportunities, the students should prepare themselves properly to face the challenge of future life. He also expressed that AUST is a real platform from where students would gain proper education from their experienced teachers.

The program was well attended by the faculty members, officers and students of 1st year 1st semester. Students were encouraged with the valuable speech delivered by the respective speakers on that occasion.
