Architect Nahas Ahmed Khalil is one of the foremost Architects of Bangladesh, with 35 years of involvement in the arena of Architecture. This successful icon of Bangladeshi Architect was the key speaker in the inspiring Seminar titled "Personal Thoughts on Location Based Approach to Design- on Hindsight", held on 14^th of January 2018 at the Central Seminar Hall of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology.

Dr. Shehzad Zahir introduced and welcomed Ar. Nahas Ahmed Khalil in a houseful of audience. Ar. Nahas started the speech stating his source of motivation towards his journey in Architecture. He stressed on location based design approach, regionalism, environmental response and broken plan schemes. He courteously depicted how the dream for creating local style and philosophy in architecture drive him from very early professional life and his dedication, sincerity, commitment to achieve that target. Always eager to build an identity, he proved that his unique works, location based outcomes, beauty in the use of bricks, projected shading eves has strongly established that identity in the profession. Among his large volume of works, he highlighted some of his projects to set examples for the future architects, which was a good justice to the title of the seminar.

This lecture was very inspiring for the audience, especially the future architects and students. In such motivational speech, Ar. Nahas Khalil suggested the young professionals to search for our own styles and philosophy in architecture and follow the philosophy of great persons holistically and enlighten themselves with that power. He also inspired the audience to be proud of local styles and philosophy of architecture, explore their own capability and flourish that to fit for the profession.

The session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Jasmin Ara Begum, Head Department of Architecture, AUST. The seminar was vibrant with the presence of a large number of the faculty members of the Department of Architecture, students, alumni and professionals. At last, the program was concluded with crest handover by Prof. Dr. Jasmin Ara Begum to the speaker Ar. Nahas Ahmed Khalil in a lively crowd of hall. Finally, Chairperson Prof. Dr. Jasmin Ara Begum gave the vote of thanks to the speaker Ar. Nahas Khalil and the 'Seminar & Workshop Organizing Committee', Department of Architecture of AUST, where the Convener was Dr. Shehzad Zahir and Members were Ar. Tanzila Samad Choudhury, Ar. Jayedi Aman, Ar. Sheikh Rishad Ahammad and Ar. Ishrat Momtaz Badhan.
