The Firefly Team from Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) has achieved another notable milestone by securing the Champion title at the Voices for Choices – Climate & Deep Tech Impact Pitch 2025.
The competition was jointly organized by SustainLaunch Labs and the BUP Environment Club as part of BUP Environment Fest 2025, bringing together innovative, youth-led projects focused on climate action, sustainability, and impact driven by deep technology.
Firefly is an autonomous firefighting drone project developed by undergraduate students from the Mechanical and Production Engineering department (ME) at AUST. The project aims to enhance firefighting and disaster response capabilities through aerial robotics and smart systems, particularly in challenging and high-risk environments.
At the pitch competition, the Firefly Team presented their solution’s technical framework, environmental relevance, and real-world impact potential. Their approach to combining deep technology with climate resilience and disaster risk reduction earned strong recognition from the judging panel.
This achievement further highlights AUST students’ active participation in national-level innovation platforms and their ability to compete successfully across universities. The recognition adds to Firefly’s growing list of accomplishments and reinforces AUST’s commitment to fostering research, entrepreneurship, and socially responsible engineering.
Following this achievement, the Firefly Team plans to continue refining their system, expanding pilot studies, and exploring opportunities for scaling and collaboration within the disaster management and climate resilience ecosystem. The Champion title at Voices for Choices – Climate & Deep Tech Impact Pitch 2025 stands as a proud moment for AUST, celebrating student-led innovation with meaningful societal impact.
