In a significant leap towards advancing space technology and academic excellence, the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) opened a new lab called Satellite Communication Laboratory on 24.12.2023. The momentous occasion was started by a ribbon-cutting ceremony by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Fazli Ilahi (Vice Chancellor of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology). Prof. Dr. Tareq Aziz (Head of the Department of EEE), Prof. Dr. Bobby Barua (Director, P &D), Prof. Dr. Md. Meganur Rhaman (Advisor of the Students' Welfare), Prof. Dr. Mohammad Hamidur Rahman Khan (Registrar (in-Charge)), Prof. Dr. Omar Farrok, Dr. Md. Shariful Islam, Mr. Muhammad Jakaria Rahimi, Mr. Nahyan Al Mahmud, Mr. Md. Aminur Rahman and other distinguished Faculty Members and students of the Department of EEE were present during the inauguration ceremony.

According to the requirement of new course curriculum, the Satellite Communication Laboratory has been established in 9B01/1. Besides its academic purpose, this space is supportive for installing a ground station. Currently, a nanosatellite project named AUSTSAT is running which would be supportive for both academic and research purposes. According to the advice of the Honorable Vice-Chancellor, the current research on AUSTSAT 3U Nanosatellite, aimed to contribute to Remote Sensing applications, with a targeted focus on the ecological monitoring of the Sundarbans, the world's largest mangrove forest. Looking ahead, the Laboratory aims to further enhance its capabilities and expand its contributions to satellite technology. Plans include ongoing research projects, student involvement, and potential collaborations with external experts to advance the knowledge of satellite communication.
