The VC and Librarian gave a short description of DAC and Koha-ILMS to the Chairman, BoT and the section was opened for the users soon after the inaugural ceremony was over.

The purpose of the DAC is to facilitate and ensure access into subscribed and non-subscribed e-resources of the library. Koha - ILMS is a multi-functional integrated library systems which facilitates students to search library resources through its Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC); Database Management – to act as database to store MARC (Machine Readable Cataloguing) records, patron information etc.; Cataloguing – to add items such as book materials and non-book materials and their records to the database; Circulation Control – to check items in and out, keep track of their location, and even notify patrons when items are due (or overdue!) by sending automatic emails or text messages;  Patron Management – to add, modify or delete patrons, download or import patron data, allow patrons to manage their own accounts and perform various activities like placing holds or paying library fees online; Staff Interface – to access via web-browser via the internet or through a local network (same as the OPAC); Generation of Reports – to check which items are the most circulated within a period of time or which patrons are reading less number of books compared to the previous years. To keep track of the library and its many activities so that it can keep running a steady and efficient operation is also a part of the facility that can be obtained.
