The 5th Convocation of Ahsanullah University of Science & Technology (AUST) was held on 15 February 2012 at Bangabandhu International Conference Centre, Dhaka.
A total of 1837 graduates were conferred bachelor and masters degrees in seven disciplines including Architecture, Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Textile Engineering, Business Administration and Education. Three of them were awarded Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah Padak for their outstanding academic performance. The venue was adorned with festive mood.
Mr. Md. Zillur Rahman, Honorable President of the People's Republic of Bangladesh and Chancellor, AUST presided over the ceremony. Mr. Md. Nurul Islam Nahid MP, Honorable Minister, Ministry of Education was also present as the Special Guest. Mr. Jamal Nazrul Islam, Emeritus Professor, University of Chittagong graced the occasion as Convocation Speaker. Mr. Kazi Rafiqul Alam, President, AUST Board of Trustees (BoT), Prof. Dr. A.M.M. Safiullah, Vice-Chancellor, AUST spoke on the occasion. Prof. Dr. Kazi Shariful Alam, Treasurer, AUST announced the name of the three students who received Khan Bahadur Ahsanullah Padak. This award is presented to students who secured the highest CGPA in different semesters among the graduates of undergraduate programs. The recipients were 1. Khandaker Lubaba Bashar 2. Syed Abidur rahman and 3. Syeda Shabnam Hasan.
Mr. Md. Zillur Rahman, Honorable President of the People's Republic of Bangladesh and Chancellor, AUST extended his heartiest congratulations and felicitations to all graduating students and wished them very successful career and accomplished life. He also thanked the Authority of the University for imparting quality education for the students from the very beginning.
Mr. Nurul Islam Nahid MP, Minister, Ministry of Education, Government of the Peoples Republic of Bangladesh called upon the authority of both public and private universities in Bangladesh to educate our young generation properly with modern and technological education. He said that Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) maintaining the quality from the very beginning to build up the students as wealth for the country.
Prof. Dr. Kazi Rafiqul Alam, Chairman, Board of Trustees, AUST (BoT) expressed his firm determination and said " Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology will continue to maintain its high academic standard for which it has been acclaimed both at home and abroad over the past several years and continue to contribute in its nation building endeavor."
Prof. Dr. A.M.M. Safiullah, Vice-Chancellor, AUST said in his speech that "AUST is one of the leading private universities has earned reputation for quality of its graduates. Our effort towards excellence in higher education has succeeded in placing our graduates in all corners of the globe and within the nation. Through their contribution and hard work they have been able to earn an enviable reputation. There is a fierce competition among brighter students to study at AUST who are selected on a very fair and competitive basis. I wish all the graduates great success in life".
Convocation Speaker Mr. Jamal Nazrul Islam said in his speech that "I hope and pray that Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology will build on its considerable achievements of the past to be of greater service to the nation and to humanity at large. My warmest good wishes for a bright future of the graduating students and Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology."
In the convocation Members of the AUST Trustee Board, Syndicate, Academic Council, Finance and Disciplinary Committee, Deans of the Faculties of AUST, Heads of the Departments of AUST, distinguished Vice-Chancellors, teachers, officers and employees of AUST were present in the 5th Convocation.
Following the Convocation, a dinner party was arranged in the university campus where the graduates along with the teachers, officers, staffs and some distinguished guests participated.
