Workshop on 'DHAKA MAHANAGAR IMARAT NIRMAN BIDHIMALA-2008'


In architecture design studios, students have to follow the building construction rules and regulations published in building construction act-2008 while working on studio projects. Therefore, it is also essential for the studio teachers to have extensive knowledge on the construction act for both academic and practical purpose.

Keeping this in mind a half day long workshop held on 24th December, 2017 on this significant topic at Lecture Room 5B05, Department of Architecture, Ahsanullah University of Science And Technology (AUST) attained by most of the faculty members. New building construction act-2008 (Dhaka Mahanagar Imarat Nirman Bidhimala-2008) was published on May 29, 2008, as the Bangladesh gazette by the Ministry of Housing and Public works of Government of Bangladesh.

The workshop was conducted by Ar. Syed Monirul Islam and Ar.Masud Ur Rashid, Assistant Professors of Architecture Department (AUST), focusing on the varied aspects of Dhaka Mahanagar Imarat Nirman Bidhimala-2008. From its inception, they discussed and shared knowledge about design approval procedure for building construction and different clause of building construction act. Participants also discussed about construction drawing calculation with the conductors.

The seminar sparked discussion among the notable faculty members from the department of architecture, AUST. Prof. Dr. Jasmin Ara Begum, Head of the Department of Architecture, AUST appreciated the initiative of seminar and workshop organizing committee to arrange series of seminars and she encouraged the speakers in her inspiring introductory speech. The seminar was moderated by Prof. Dr. Shehzad Zahir and assisted by the committee members, Ar. Jayedi Aman, Ar. Seikh Rishad Ahmmad, Ar. Ishrat Momtaz Badhan, Ar. Maisha Durdana Mogno and Ar. Farzana Rahman.
