The Committee for Advanced Studies and Research (CASR) of AUST organized the ‘1^st AUST Research Day’ at Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) on 12^th December 2023. In recent years, the CASR has funded process from ‘AUST Internal Research Grant (AIRG)’ for the faculty members and officers of AUST.

A number of research projects funded by the AUST Internal Research Grant (AIRG) under the Committee of Advanced Studies and Research (CASR) have been completed. On the ‘AUST Research Day’, the Principal Investigators and Co-Principal Investigators of six (6) research projects who completed their projects presented the research findings.

The program was divided into two segments, i.e., the Morning session and the Afternoon session.

Morning Session

In the morning session, Prof. Dr. Md. Shahriar Mahbub, CSE Department; Dr. Fakir Sharif Hossain, EEE Department; and Asma Siddika, Architecture Department, presented their research findings.

Prof. Dr. Abu Tweb Abu Ahmed, Vice President, Dhaka Ahsania Mission and Vice Chairman, BoT, AUST, was the Chief Guest. Prof. Dr. Mohammad A. Karim, Provost, Executive Vice Chancellor and Chief Operating Officer, University of Massachusetts, Dartmouth, USA, and Honorable Member of BoT, AUST, was the Guest of Honor and joined the program online. Mr. Kazi Rafiqul Alam, Chairman, Dhaka Ahsania Mission and Chairman, Board of Trustees, AUST, was the special guest.

In addition, Prof. Dr. Rifat Shahriyar, Dept. of CSE, BUET; Hamidur Rahman, Associate Professor, Dept. of EEE, BUET; and Dr. Huraera Jabeen, Consultant, The World Bank, were the panelists and discussed about the research fields presented by the PIs, respectively. Prof. Dr. Mohammed Mahbubur Rahman, Pro Vice-Chancellor, AUST, was the special guest in the morning session.

Afternoon Session

In the afternoon session, Prof. Dr. A. K. M. Baki, EEE Department; Prof. Dr. Md. Meganur Rhaman, EEE Department; and Prof. Dr. Bobby Barua, EEE Department, presented their research findings. Mr. Md. Zahir Ahmed, Country Director, Bangladesh Branch Office, Schneider Electric Overseas Asia; Dr. Muhammad Hasanuzzaman, Associate Professor, Department of Nanomaterials and Ceramic Engineering, BUET; and Prof. Dr. Md. Saiful Islam, Institute of Information and Communication Technology (IICT), BUET, were the panelists and discussed about the research fields presented by the PIs, respectively. Prof. Dr. M. Shamsher Ali, Founder Vice-Chancellor of Bangladesh Open University and Southeast University, and Honorable Member of BoT, AUST, was the Chief Guest. Prof. Dr. Muhammad Fazli Ilahi, Vice-Chancellor, AUST, was the special guest.

The members of BoT, the Deans of the faculties, the Heads of the departments, and all the PIs and Co-PIs of different projects funded by CASR were present.

Prof. Dr. Dewan Hasan Ahmed, Member Secretary (in-charge) of CASR, was the host of the program.
