After the last seminar of the series “Pathway to Research Culture” IMechE AUST Student Chapter and IEOM Society AUST Student Chapter have collaborated yet again for the 3rd installment of the same series. The seminar was titled, “An Introduction to Economic Tools of Pollution Management”. This particular topic is a teaching topic instead of a research topic. Pollution is created by human activities. Pollution grows proportionally with economic growth. For a country like Bangladesh - the sustainability of its economic growth will depend on efficient pollution management using economic This teaching presentation provided a synopsis of the economic tools for pollution management, its design, and management. The Chair of this Program was the Department Head of the MPE Department Dr. Mohammad Sarwar Morshed. As Chief Guest, we had among us the honorable Vice Chancellor of AUST Dr. Muhammad Fazle Ilahi and the Pro Vice-Chancellor Dr. Mohammed Mahbubur Rahman was present as the Special Guest. And lastly, Dr. Rafat Alam was the guest speaker.

Dr. Rafat Alam is an Associate Professor and Discipline Coordinator of Economics at MacEwan University in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Dr. Alam is also the president of the MacEwan University faculty association and a member of the University’s academic council. His teaching interests are environmental economics, development economics, and contemporary Canadian economic issues. He specializes in research in the areas of biodiversity economics, cost-benefit and impacts analysis, and development economics.

The then Head of the Department of MPE, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Sarwar Morshed, a member of IMechE, has recently visited the Formula Student UK 2022 at Silverstone as a representative of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology and our faculty Students of AUST have actively participated in the Formula Student competitions and will continue to do so in the upcoming years. Prof. Morshed visit has brought comprehensive resources and cognizance of the upcoming competitions arranged by IMechE.
