AIAA AUST Student Branch

Overview

The AIAA AUST Student Branch at Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) is the first student branch of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) in Bangladesh. As part of the renowned global AIAA network, this initiative promotes aerospace and aviation through research, innovation, and professional development, equipping students with resources to succeed in these competitive fields.

The branch provides its members with access to cutting-edge aerospace insights, networking opportunities with industry leaders, and career development support through workshops and mentorship programs. These initiatives help students build strong professional skills and stay updated on industry trends.

AIAA encourages innovation by providing resources for students to develop new aerospace technologies and contribute to advancements in the field. Members can also participate in global competitions like NASA’s Student Launch, the Spaceport America Cup, and Design/Build/Fly (DBF), gaining valuable real-world experience and showcasing their work on prestigious platforms.

Our Team

Our Vision

At the AIAA AUST Student Branch, our vision is to reach new heights in the Aerospace and Aviation field through AIAA by giving:
  • Cutting-edge aerospace insights
  • Networking opportunities with industry leaders
  • Career development resources
  • Resources for innovating and developing aerospace technologies

Our members get the opportunity to enhance their professional skills as well as present their work on a global platform. They also get the chance to participate in NASA’s Student Launch, Spaceport America Cup, DBF(Design/Build/Fly), Rocketry competitions, and many more.

Involvements

DBF Competition

Every year the AIAA Foundation with assistance from several AIAA Technical Committees and corporate sponsors, hosts a competition for undergraduate and graduate students to design and build a remote-controlled aircraft to perform specific tasks. Students then come together to face off against each other in April.

Regional Student Conference

AIAA’s Regional Student Conferences gives students the chance to present their research in a formal technical meeting atmosphere. Just as important, you’ll exchange ideas and discuss programs with students from other schools in your region.

A university student in good standing at their institution who is also an AIAA Student Member is eligible to submit a paper to the Regional Student Conference. The submitting and presenting author(s) must be AIAA Student Members.

Design Competitions

The AIAA Foundation sponsors design competitions every year. These competitions offer a great opportunity for students to participate in a simulated real-world problem, allowing students to gain experience and receive useful and constructive feedback from technical experts who sit on AIAA Technical Committees.

AIAA design competitions allow students to perform theoretical work and gain real-world insight into the design process. Whether students are designing an aircraft, engine, or space vehicle, they will go through all the primary design steps involved in determining a solution to a Request for Proposal (RFP).

Spaceport America Cup

The Spaceport America Cup is designed in conjunction with IREC – the Intercollegiate Rocket Engineering Competition for student rocketry teams from all over the country and around the world. With over 150 teams from colleges and universities from over 20 countries, the competition continues to grow every year. Students launch solid, hybrid and Liquid propulsion rockets to target altitudes of 10,000 and 30,000 feet.

In partnership with the Experimental Sounding Rocket Association and Spaceport America, AIAA is proud to support the world's largest intercollegiate rocketry competition.
