A cohort of five students from Mechanical Engineering (ME) program at Level 4, Term 1, (Fall 2022) took part in an industrial attachment at Bangladesh Industrial Technical Assistance Center (BITAC) in Dhaka from 2nd July to 6th July, 2023.
During their attachment, they had the opportunity to gain knowledge and observe various equipment in different sections, such as Welding and Fabrication Shop, Machine Maintenance Shop, Automobile Shop, Tool and Technology Institution (TTI), as well as different types of machines in Light Machine Shop and Heavy Machine Shop, Mold Shop, Heat Treatment Shop, Foundry & Pattern Shop, and CNC Shop.
Furthermore, they acquired an understanding of the crucial role played by the Production Control Division (PCD) which ensures smooth facility operations, adherence to required standards, and timely delivery of products to customers. Additionally, they learned that Industrial Engineering Division (IED) was responsible for analyzing production processes to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. Moreover, they learned in the Inspection Section (IS) that inspection in engineering tasks include applying measurements, tests, and gauges to specific features of an object or activity.
