The Department of Mechanical and Production Engineering's Mechanical Program has organized a large-scale event for students of mechanical engineering. The event took place on June 6th, 2023, at the M.H. Khan auditorium of AUST, at 2:00 p.m. Its purpose is to inform students about the various extra and co-curricular activities available to them. The event named "Mechanical Day" proved to be a success as it provided valuable insights to its participants. The students of the Mechanical Engineering program at AUST had the opportunity to gain a comprehensive understanding of AUST Mechanical Society and the future plans of the its affiliated student chapters, including IMeche, ASHRAE, and ASME. The event was designed to provide students with a deeper insight into the Mechanical Engineering program and its associated organizations. The event was a great success, and the students were able to learn a lot about the various opportunities available to them.
The inauguration of the event was led by Prof. Dr. Mazharul Islam, the Head of the Department of MPE. He emphasized the significance of student involvement in extracurricular and co-curricular activities. During his speech, he briefly mentioned about the AUST Mechanical Society and other affiliated student chapters and clubs. During his speech, he urged the students to explore the field of mechanical engineering and acquire significant insights into the career prospects that lie ahead in this ever-evolving field.
The proceedings of the event carried on with a speech delivered by Associate Professor Mr. Fazlar Rahman, who serves as the treasurer of AUST ME Society. Following his address, the vice president of AUST ME Society also gave a speech. Faculty advisors and chairpersons of the IMechE Student Chapter, ASHRAE Student Chapter, and ASME Student Chapter recently addressed students, discussing the opportunities, accomplishments, and future goals of these organizations. The speakers emphasized the importance of attending events organized by these chapters to improve students' education and professional development. Students were given insights into the upcoming events of the AUST ME society and its affiliated student chapters. They were also told about the different student clubs which are available for the students. Then, Prof. Dr. Dewan Hasan Ahmed emphasized the significance of extra and co-curricular activities for students. He discussed the various opportunities that these activities provide for students to develop their skills and abilities beyond the classroom. He shared the society's vision for the betterment of the department and their initiatives aimed at facilitating a thriving learning environment.
With the prize giving ceremony of previously conducted CAD Competition with vote of thanks from Asst. Prof. Dr. Istiaq Jamil Siddique, Co-Opt. member of AUST ME Society the event concluded at 3:30 p.m.
