KFR Library Organizes Information Literacy Session on “Effective use of KFR Library Resources in Research and Scholarly Communication” For the students of level 4/1 of the Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering of AUST During Fall-2022 Semester


On May 08, 2023, Monday KFR Library organized an Information Literacy Session on “Effective use of KFR Library Resources in Research and Scholarly Communication” for the students of level 4/1 of the Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering of AUST at the VC’s Office Seminar Room. The session was conducted by Dr. Md. Zillur Rahman, Librarian, AUST.

The session was inaugurated by Prof. Dr. Md. Shahriar Mahbub, Head, Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering. Prof. Mahbub said that this kind of session is very important for the students who are going to prepare their thesis at the level 4/1 or in the final year. Preparation for research and selection of topic and research proposal will have to start from level 4/1 under the guidance of the supervisor, he also added. He also thanked Dr. Md. Zillur Rahman, Librarian, AUST for taking this kind of initiative in AUST.

In his session, Dr. Md. Zillur Rahman, Librarian, AUST delivered his lecture on KFR Library resources which was divided into two segments: Theoretical and virtual tour to KFR Library. In the theoretical presentation Dr. Rahman described sources of information, where and how to get it. In the virtual tour, he showed location of the resources and how to find it. He also described the importance of Scopus and how to find SJR and SNIP index, top ranked journals on a single discipline using sources and how to run document, author and affiliation search on Scopus platform.

Most of the students from level 4/1 of the Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering were present at the session. After completing the presentation part a Q & A session was also conducted to get feedback from the students. The students asked different questions to the resource persons and they answered to quench their inquisitiveness. The session was concluded with a great satisfaction from both sides.
