At Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST), campus safety is a top priority. A structured framework has been developed to protect students, faculty, staff, and visitors by combining strategic planning, specialized teams, and operational oversight. The safety structure is built around three key entities: the Campus Safety Task Force (CSTF), the Fire/Disaster Safety Team, and the Assistant Director (Campus Safety and Logistic Support, Planning & Development). Together, they are trying to ensure a safe, secure, and prepared learning environment.

Campus Safety Task Force (CSTF)

The Campus Safety Task Force (CSTF), formed in 2024, consists of members from different departments and units of the university. It is entrusted with reviewing and implementing safety practices across the campus, raising awareness, and promoting a culture of preparedness. The CSTF has facilitated the development of a comprehensive fire safety system, disseminated laboratory and accreditation-related safety guidelines, and organized training programs for staff and faculty. It also plays a vital role in planning fire drills and strengthening coordination with external safety authorities.

Fire/Disaster Safety Team

The Fire/Disaster Safety Team was established under the initiatives of the CSTF to directly handle emergency preparedness and response. Each block of the main campus of AUST has a designated Warden and Assistant Warden, who are integral members of this team and serve as the first point of coordination during any fire or disaster-related situation. Together, they ensure that safety measures are monitored and practiced at the block level, strengthening localized preparedness. The team as a whole works in close collaboration with the Fire Service and Civil Defence (FSCD) and is actively involved in conducting fire drills, coordinating rapid responses, and ensuring compliance with fire safety regulations. Its presence provides AUST with a robust and frontline mechanism to manage risks, contain hazards, and respond effectively during emergencies.

Assistant Director, Safety and Logistics (Planning & Development)

To strengthen institutional oversight, the role of Assistant Director (Safety and Logistics, Planning & Development) has been created. This position supervises the operations of the University Engineer’s office, oversees logistics for maintenance and development of infrastructure, and collaborates directly with CSTF and other offices to implement safety protocols. Reporting to the Director of Planning & Development, the Assistant Director ensures that safety measures are systematically integrated into the university’s planning, operations, and emergency initiatives.

Our Commitment

Through these combined efforts, AUST ensures that campus safety is proactive, structured, and continuously evolving. By working together—administration, faculty, staff, and students—AUST is committed to fostering a culture of safety, resilience, and responsibility for the entire university community.
