Poster Pavilion - A Showcase of Innovation
In celebration of the IEEE PES Day 2023, the IEEE AUST Student Branch and IEEE PES AUST SB Chapter organized a poster presentation contest called "Poster Pavilion - A Showcase of Innovation". The event aimed to highlight innovative ideas and research on global warming and climate change through posters.
The event was open to all current university students, and there was great interest from participants. A total of 27 teams participated in the competition. A panel of five faculty members from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) at AUST served as judges for the event. Esteemed experts in the field of global warming and climate change were invited to evaluate the posters. The winners, announced on May 14, 2023, were Team Rocket (1st place), Team EcoVision (2nd place), and Team Skip (3rd place). We were honoured to have Professor Dr. Muhammad Fazli Ilahi, the Vice Chancellor of AUST, who presented the awards to the winners. Among the guests, Professor Dr. Tareq Aziz – Head of the Department, Dept. of EEE; Professor Dr. AKM Ehtesanul Islam - Counselor of the IEEE AUST Student Branch; Professor Dr. AKM Baki, Prof. Dr. Md. Meganur Rhaman, Dr. Md. Shariful Islam Dr. Fakir Sharif Hossain and Dr. Taskin Jamal - Advisor of the IEEE PES AUST SB Chapter were present.

Quiz Competition: Quiz Your Way to A Sustainable Future
In celebration of the IEEE PES Day 2023, the IEEE AUST Student Branch and IEEE PES AUST SB Chapter organized a poster presentation contest called "Quiz Competition: Quiz Your Way to A Sustainable Future". The event aimed to highlight innovative ideas and research on global warming and climate change through posters.
The event was open to all current university students, and there was great interest from participants. A total of 117 students took part in this segment. A total of 59 students were from NSU, BRACU, CUET, KUET, IIUC, DIU, IUT, and IUB, while the remaining 58 were students from AUST. The entire event was coordinated and led by Dr. Taskin Jamal (Advisor, IEEE Power and Energy Society AUST SB Chapter), who took charge of the whole event from start to finish. The event was skillfully hosted by Sabbir Hasan Talukder Rochin (Vice Chairperson, IEEE PES AUST SBC), who did excellent management and coordination to create an atmosphere of excitement and anticipation among the attendees.
Aishwarya Roy from IUB emerged as the Champion with the highest score, distinguishing herself as the top performer in the competition. Sharar Ahmed from AUST and Arham Zaman Alif, also from AUST, delivered exceptional performances, securing the first and second runner-up positions, respectively.

Lecture Seminar on “Battery Management System in Electric Vehicles: Challenges and Opportunities Towards Sustainable Transportation”

In celebration of the IEEE PES Day 2023, the IEEE AUST Student Branch and IEEE PES AUST SB Chapter organized a Lecture Seminar on “Battery Management System in Electric Vehicles: Challenges and Opportunities Towards Sustainable Transportation”.
The seminar was anchored by Subbhun Raida Karim (Vice Chairperson, IEEE SPS & IEEE ComSoc Joint SB Chapter, AUST) with a greeting speech and introduced the Keynote Speaker and the topic to the audience.
The lecture seminar was attended by several distinguished individuals including the honourable Vice Chancellor of AUST, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Fazli Ilahi as the chief guest. Among the faculty members Department Head Prof. Dr. Tareq Aziz, Prof. Dr. AKM Ehtesanul Islam (Counselor, IEEE AUST Student Branch), Professor Dr. AKM Baki, Prof. Dr. Md. Meganur Rhaman, Dr. Md. Shariful Islam, Dr. Fakir Sharif Hossain, Dr. Taskin Jamal (Advisor of IEEE Power & Energy Society AUST SB Chapter), Mr. Ata-E-Rabbi, Mr. Hasib Md. Abid Bin Farid, Ms. Shaila Arif (Advisor of IEEE AUST Student Branch WIE Affinity Group), Ms. Sharmin Sobhan (Mentor of IEEE Power & Energy Society AUST SB Chapter), Mr. Shah Md. The speaker of the Lecture session was Dr. Molla Shahadat Hossain Lipu, a Senior Member of IEEE and an Associate Professor at the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Green University of Bangladesh (GUB), delivered an insightful session during the seminar. With his extensive expertise in renewable energy, battery storage, power electronics, and electric vehicles, Dr. Lipu is highly regarded as an accomplished academician and researcher. Dr. Lipu conducted the session with great proficiency, captivating the audience with his impressive presentation and effective communication. During the seminar, Dr. Lipu discussed battery management systems for electric vehicles in the developing world and provided valuable advice for aspiring students interested in research. He highlighted the importance of electric vehicles for the future and presented compelling statistics and facts about electric vehicles and their battery management systems. The session concluded with an interactive Q&A session, moderated by the anchor.
The remarkable lecture seminar came to a close with inspiring speeches from Dr. Taskin Jamal and Prof. Dr. Tareq Aziz. They commended the commendable efforts of the IEEE AUST Student Branch in celebrating the 6th PES Day and expressed their thoughts on the pressing issues of climate change and global warming. They emphasized the pivotal role of green energy in safeguarding our planet's future. Their speeches left the audience with a renewed sense of determination to contribute towards a sustainable and eco-friendly world.

Website Launching, Award and Prize Giving Ceremony
On the 14th of May, 2023, IEEE AUST Student Branch and IEEE Power & Energy Society AUST SB Chapter jointly arranged a Website Launching, Award and Prize Giving Ceremony along with a Lecture Seminar at the VC Seminar Hall of AUST at 3:30 PM.

The seminar commenced with an enlightening speech by the honourable Vice Chancellor of AUST, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Fazli Ilahi, focusing on the urgency of addressing global warming and climate change, and the pivotal role of green and renewable energy in mitigating these challenges. He highlighted the significance of the lecture seminar in educating students about renewable energy and its potential to shape a sustainable future. Following the speech, the honourable Vice Chancellor of AUST, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Fazli Ilahi launched the new website of the IEEE AUST Student Branch, symbolizing a platform for knowledge sharing and collaboration.
During the event, honourable Vice Chancellor presented a token of gratitude to our keynote speaker, Dr. Molla Shahadat Hossain Lipu, recognizing his invaluable contribution. Additionally, the IEEE AUST Student Branch welcomed and honored the newly appointed Advisors and Mentors for its sub-branches, acknowledging their dedication to guiding and supporting the student community. The Student Branch also expressed gratitude to the former Advisors and Mentors for their significant contributions. The judges of the "Poster Pavilion" competiontion were also acknowledged and presented with tokens of appreciation for their valuable role in the event. As a highlight of the celebration, the honourable Vice Chancellor presented prizes and certificates to the champions, first runner-up, and second runner-up of the "Poster Pavilion" and "Quiz Competition," which were integral parts of the 6th IEEE PES Day 2023 festivities.
