The final semester students of the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering (EEE) of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) paid a visit at Jigatola 132/33/11 kV Grid substation under the Dhaka Power Distribution Company Limited (DPDC) on August 10, 2022. A group of 59 students joined in this study tour who have taken Power System Protection theory and lab courses in Fall semester 2021. Mr. Nahid-ur-Rahman Chowdhury, Asstt. Prof., Dept. of EEE and Mr. Abdullah-Al-Mamun, Lecturer, Dept. of EEE accompanied the students during the tour. Mr. Nilanjon Chakraborty, Executive Engineer, DPDC; Mr. Nayeem Hasan, Executive Engineer, DPDC; Mr. Ahsan Md. Sadik Hossain, Sub Divisional Engineer, DPDC; and Mr. Md. Abdullah-Al-Mamun, Sub Assistant Engineer, DPDC briefed the participating students about the overall operational procedure of this grid substation which is also a key point installation (KPI) of DPDC. The students later visited the transformer section, Gas Insulated Substation (GIS) section, Air Insulated Substation (AIS) section, distribution control room, load management and monitoring room, and distribution switch terminals. They have asked their queries about different operational activities of the substation to the concerned officials of DPDC and were really pleased to gather some practical experience related to their classroom-based study.
