AUST Architecture Students Embark on Handicraft Industry and Architectural Tour

Students of the 4th Year 2nd Semester, Department of Architecture at Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST), undertook a two-day (18/12/2024 – 19/12/2024) academic excursion to gain practical insights into industrial and architectural design. The tour covered three key locations: Bogura, Gaibandha, and Rangpur, offering students a diverse learning experience.

The journey began with a visit to Mahasthangarh in Bogura, one of the oldest archaeological sites in Bangladesh. Exploring the ancient ruins provided students with a deeper understanding of historical architecture and its significance. Following this, they traveled to Gaibandha to visit the Friendship Centre, a renowned contemporary architectural project by Kashef Chowdhury. Here, students observed sustainable design principles and gained valuable insights into modern architectural practices.

The tour concluded with a visit to handicraft industry Karupanya Rangpur Ltd. in Rangpur, where 22 students and two faculty members explored the factory’s design as part of their academic study. This industrial visit allowed them to analyze practical aspects of factory planning and its architectural layout.

By integrating historical, contemporary, and industrial architecture, this study trip provided students with a comprehensive learning experience, reinforcing their academic knowledge.
