The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) at Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST) is delighted to share the success of its alumnus,  Mahir Asef Kabir, who has recently completed his PhD in Computer Science from Virginia Tech, USA, and has started working at Google as a Software Engineer.

Mahir graduated from AUST with a BSc in CSE in 2016. His journey from AUST to one of the world’s leading universities and now to Google is a proud example of how dedication and curiosity can shape a remarkable career.

At Virginia Tech, he completed both his MS and PhD, focusing his research on software maintenance, bug detection, program analysis, and Large Language Models (LLMs). Along the way, he also gained hands-on industry experience through internships at Google Cloud and Amazon AWS Security, where he worked on AI-driven systems and software security solutions.

Beyond industry work, Mahir has contributed actively to research, with several publications in well-known international conferences and journals in software engineering and security. His work reflects a strong blend of research depth and real-world impact.
