Workshop on Curse Report Revision for Continuous Quality oImprovement (CQI), Fall 2024

To strengthen the educational framework and effectively address complex engineering challenges, the Program Self-Assessment Committee (PSAC) of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) successfully organized a comprehensive workshop on December 04, 2025, titled “Workshop on Course Report Revision for Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI), Fall 2024.” The workshop was held in Room 7A03 of the CSE Department and witnessed the active participation of all faculty members. The Head of the Department, CSE, Professor Dr. Md. Shamim Akhter was also present throughout the whole session.

The workshop primarily emphasized the detailed discussion of BAETE Version 3, Course Report Revision, including the mapping of Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) with Performance Indicators (PIs). Key issues were addressed, such as identifying weaknesses in the current implementation plan that hinder students’ ability to grasp course strategies, exploring ways to enhance educational quality, and adopting effective Teaching–Learning Strategies and Assessment Strategies. These enhanced strategies will support the design of an effective Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) loop. These sessions were led by Faisal Muhammad Shah, Associate Professor and PSAC Chairman, and Shoeb Mohammad Shahriar, Assistant Professor and OBE Coordinator, who provided comprehensive guidance on these critical aspects.

The workshop began with an opening session where the objectives of the workshop were clearly outlined, emphasizing the importance of course report revision and the role of Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI) in strengthening academic quality.

This was followed by the formal declaration of the Outcome-Based Education (OBE) calendar for Spring 2025. The session included a detailed discussion on upcoming OBE-related activities, highlighting key responsibilities, timelines, and expectations for faculty members.

In the next segment, faculty members responsible for culminating courses presented their course reports. Identified challenges and inconsistencies were addressed through immediate discussion, while fellow participants provided constructive feedback to enhance the quality and alignment of the reports with OBE and CQI requirements.

Following the discussions, faculty members were divided into subgroups to analyze and review their respective course outcomes. Each group worked collaboratively to identify areas requiring modification and improvement, particularly in relation to PLO - PI mapping and improvement plan design based on weakness of the running strategies. From each subgroup, one selected course was presented through its course report to highlight specific issues and challenges. Faculty members worked collaboratively in subgroups to review the reports and offer targeted suggestions aimed at improving course outcomes and ensuring effective implementation of CQI principles.

In conclusion, the workshop successfully clarified many ambiguities related to Course Report, PLO–PI mapping and CQI loop design, thereby enhancing faculty members’ understanding and preparedness in addressing complex engineering problems. The successful execution of the workshop reflects the strong commitment and dedication of the organizers, resource persons, and participants, and marks a significant contribution toward the continuous improvement of academic quality within the CSE Department.
