Prof. Dr. Khondaker Abdullah Al Mamun an Alumni of AUST and a former faculty member of the CSE department, AUST has received the distinguished "Digital Bangladesh Award 2022" as the Best Individual in Technical-Private category.


Alumni of AUST and a former faculty member of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, AUST Prof. Dr. Khondaker Abdullah Al Mamun has received the highly prestigious “Digital Bangladesh Award 2022” as the Best Individual in the Technical-Private category. On the 12th of December 2022, at the Bangabandhu International Conference Center, the Honorable Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina has handed over the award to him for his outstanding contribution towards building Digital Bangladesh and digital healthcare systems at the national level.

The healthcare project that led him to achieve this prestigious award addressed the problems of the healthcare system in Bangladesh from the grassroots level starting from the village home, community clinic, upazila, and union level and sought to find a solution to solve those problems by creating a digital health ecosystem that can provide quality healthcare as well as establish a patient-centric health-care system in Bangladesh. The model of the developed digital healthcare system was published in an international journal as well as patented and led to the establishment of a commercial company. The established commercial company has served around four million people so far.

Prof. Dr. Khondaker Abdullah Al Mamun has completed his Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Engineering from AUST (1998-2002). He was awarded the “Khanbahadur Ahsanullah Podak (Gold Medal)” for securing the highest CGPA in the Bachelor Degree program in the year 2002. He has served actively in the same department in various capacities from Lecturer to Assistant Professor from 2002 to 2007.

Dr. Khondaker Abdullah Al Mamun received his Ph.D. in Computer and Biomedical Engineering from the University of Southampton, UK. He is currently a Professor at the Department of CSE, United International University (UIU), Bangladesh. He is the founder and Director of the Advanced Intelligent Multidisciplinary Systems Lab (AIMS Lab) at UIU conducting research in areas of machine learning, intelligent System, healthcare, disabilities, and education as well as the human-machine interface.

Dr. Khondaker Abdullah Al Mamun has also established the first Brain Computer Interface Lab (BCI) in Bangladesh in 2021 which is playing a very active role in research on Human Brain, Machine Interface, Biomedical and Rehabilitation Engineering to help improve the quality of life of people through 4IR technologies.

Dr. Khondaker Abdullah Al Mamun has published more than 150 peer-reviewed international journal and conference papers. He has developed and implemented several digital healthcare services model-based solutions for developing countries. His contribution in innovation and development is recognized internationally and by the government of Bangladesh. He is also the founder of CMED Health, a startup that focuses on preventive and primary healthcare through Information and Communication Technology.
