Computer Science and Engineering

From 29 December 2024 to 02 January 2025, the AUST CSE Cricket Tournament was organized by the AUST CSE Society (AUSTCSES) for the Spring 2024 academic semester. The tournament was managed by Techpirates 47 and Quanta 52.

Professor Dr. Md. Shamim Akhter (Head, Department of CSE & President, AUSTCSES) inaugurated the tournament. He encouraged the students to participate in the tournament with honor and show true sportsmanship. The other present faculty members in the inauguration ceremony were Mr. Md. Khairul Hasan (Associate Professor, Dept of CSE), Mr. Tanvir Ahmed (Assistant Professor, Dept of CSE and Treasurer, AUSTCSES), Mr. Md. Siam Ansary (Lecturer, Dept of CSE and Co-opt member, Extra-curricular, AUSTCSES), Mr. Mustofa Ahmed (Lecturer, Dept of CSE), Mr. Kazi Toufique Elahi (Lecturer, Dept of CSE), Mr. Tareq Zaman (Adjunct Faculty, Dept of CSE).

From eight different semesters, there were eight teams for boys. Similarly, each semester, there was a team for the girls. The group stage matches were held from 29 December to 31 December. The semi-final matches were held on 01 January 2025 and the final matches were held the following day, 02 January.

On the day of the final matches, alumni from different semesters were in the field. They cordially played a friendly cricket match. The boys’ final match was held between the 4th-year 1st semester and the 3rd-year 2nd semester while the girls’ final match was held between the 4th-year 1st semester and the 3rd-year 1st semester. In the girls’ final match, 3rd year 1st semester came out as winners and in the boys’ match, 3rd year 2nd semester won. After the final matches were concluded, a prize-giving ceremony was held. In the prize-giving ceremony, the faculty members present were Professor Dr. Md. Shamim Akhter, Mr. Md. Khairul Hasan, Mr. Md. Siam Ansary, and Mr. Md. Sohidul Islam. 

Professor Dr. Md. Shamim Akhter thanked everyone for the timely and efficient arrangement of the tournament. Then, crests were awarded in different categories such as player of the match, best bowler, best wicketkeeper, best batter, best catch, etc. The newest member to the AUST CSE Family, students of the 1st-year 1st semester were given a special crest for their sincere participation. Then, runners-up trophies and medals were handed over. Lastly, the winner trophies were awarded to the boys’ team of 3rd year 2nd semester and girls’ team of 3rd year 1st semester.

With the prize-giving ceremony concluded, the AUST CSE Cricket Tournament Spring 2024 came to an end.

The event was drawn to a close with the hope that the Cricket Tournament has provided the students a platform for developing key life skills like resilience, strategic thinking, teamwork, and leadership as the game is a microcosm of life itself, offering opportunities to learn from both successes and failures.
