A seminar titled “Sustainable Building Materials: Towards Durability, Circularity and Resilience” was held on Sunday, September 14, 2025, at the MH Khan Auditorium of Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST). The seminar was presented by Anwar Ispat and Anwar Cement, and powered by Maxcrete.The event, a key segment of the week-long celebration "Praiyoyik's Radiant Week," brought together academicians, industry experts, and students to discuss the future of civil engineering materials. Organized by "Pratyoyik 47" and arranged by the AUST Civil Engineering Society (ACES), the seminar aimed to highlight the growing importance of environmentally responsible construction materials and practices in the civil engineering sector.Prof. Dr. Md. Ashraful Hoque, Vice-Chancellor of AUST, graced the event as the Chief Guest. The keynote speech was delivered by Prof. Dr. Raquib Ahsan, professor,Department of Civil Engineering, BUET, who also serves as the Vice President of the ACI Bangladesh Chapter. The session was chaired by Prof. Dr. Md. Shahid Mamun, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering at AUST. Prof. Dr. Sharmin Reza Chowdhury, Treasurer of AUST, and Mohammad Emran, Chief Marketing Officer of Maxcrete Limited, attended as Special Guests.Prof. Dr. Md. Ashraful Hoque emphasized the need for universities to promote research and innovation that support sustainable development in the construction industry. The keynote speaker Prof. Dr. Raquib Ahsan presented a presentation that focused on the future of sustainable building materials, stressing their role in improving durability, enabling circularity, and enhancing the resilience of built structures. Throughout the seminar, speakers highlighted the urgent need for materials and construction technologies that reduce environmental impact, minimize resource consumption, as well as support long-term structural performance. The discussions emphasized global trends towards circular economy models and the potential for Bangladesh’s construction sector to adopt greener alternatives.

Presiding over the session, Prof. Dr. Md. Shahid Mamun, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering at AUST, emphasized the department's commitment to "Unleashing the Power of Civil Minds," the theme of the ongoing week. The seminar concluded with a call to integrate sustainable building materials into mainstream construction practices.
