AUST Civilians’ Seismic Evening 2024


The AUST Civil Engineering Society (ACES) successfully hosted the "AUST Civilians’ Seismic Evening" on July 13, 2024, at the Bangladesh Shishu Academy in Dhaka. The event was particularly significant as it served to bid farewell to the outgoing students while also warmly welcoming the newly admitted students of the Department of Civil Engineering.

The event was graced by the presence of respected eminent persons. Md. Ali Akhtar Hossain, the Chief Engineer of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), honoured the occasion as the chief guest. Additionally, Md. Anowar Hossain, Additional chief Engineer of the Local Government Engineering Department (LGED), and Engr. Sheikh Shoyeb Uddin, chairman and managing Director of Anirban Assets Ltd., were in attendance as special guests. Furthermore, the President of ACES and the honourable Head of the Department of Civil Engineering at AUST, Prof. Dr. Md. Shahid Mamun, presided over the event as the Chairperson.

The event commenced with a recitation from the holy Quran, invoking a sense of solemnity. Subsequently, students representing both the outgoing batch and the newly admitted batch shared their feelings and experiences with the audience. Ms. Ayesha Binta Ali, the Treasurer of ACES and Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at AUST, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the members of ACES and the student body for organising such a splendid event, emphasising the commendable effort put forth within a short span of time. Md. Ali Akhtar Hossain, the chief guest, delivered a significant and insightful speech, imparting his valuable experiences and knowledge to the audience. His words resonated deeply with the attendees. The special guests, Md. Anowar Hossain and Engr Sheikh Shoyeb Uddin, also addressed the gathering, sharing their expertise and wisdom. Prof. Dr. Md. Shahid Mamun, the honorable Head of the Department, urged the outgoing students to uphold the ideals and reputation of the university in their professional journeys. He encouraged them to maintain close ties with the Department's alumni and consider organizing knowledge-sharing and experience-sharing events with them.

The honorable Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. Md. Shahid Mamun handed over the crest to the chief guest, Md. Ali Akhtar Hossain and the special guests Md. Anowar Hossain and Engr Sheikh Shoyeb Uddin. Following this, the honorable Head of the Civil Department handed over the crests to the class representatives as well as all the outgoing students.

Following the formal session, the " AUST Civilians’ Seismic Evening " transitioned seamlessly into its vibrant cultural event, where the students of the Civil Engineering Department enthusiastically and actively participated. This segment of the event was a true showcase of talent and the cultural richness within the department.

In the end, the event left an ineradicable mark of emotion and memory among the participants. It served not only as a platform for artistic expression but also as a reminder of the bonds forged within the department and the enduring impact of shared experiences. The "AUST Civilians’ Seismic Evening" cultural event was a testament to the department's commitment to nurturing both academic excellence and the holistic development of its students.
