AUST Civil Week 2023


The AUST Civil Engineering Society (ACES) successfully organised the event "AUST Civil Week" on August 18, 2023, at the venue of Bangladesh Shishu Academy, Dhaka. This event held great significance as it aimed to bid farewell to the outgoing students and extend a warm welcome to the newly admitted students of the Department of Civil Engineering.

The event was graced by the presence of respected dignitaries. Mr. M.F.M Masudur Rahman, the Project Director of the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Railway Bridge construction project, honoured the occasion as the Chief Guest. Additionally, Brig. Gen. Md. Sayeed Anwarul Islam, Chief Engineer of Navana Real State Ltd., and Dr. Md. Mahmudur Rahman, Professor and Dean of the Engineering Faculty, were in attendance as special guests. Furthermore, the President of ACES and the honourable Head of the Department of Civil Engineering at AUST, Prof. Dr. Sharmin Reza Chowdhury, presided over the event as the Chairperson.

The event commenced with a recitation from the holy Quran, invoking a sense of solemnity and reverence. Subsequently, students representing both the outgoing batch and the newly admitted batch shared their feelings and experiences with the attentive audience. Mr. Shafiqul Islam, the Treasurer of ACES and Assistant Professor in the Department of Civil Engineering at AUST, expressed heartfelt gratitude to the members of ACES and the student body for organising such a splendid event, emphasising the commendable effort put forth within a short span of time. Mr. M.F.M Masudur Rahman, the Chief Guest, delivered a significant and insightful speech, imparting his valuable experiences and knowledge to the audience. His words resonated deeply with the attendees. The special guests, Brig. Gen. Md. Sayeed Anwarul Islam and Prof. Dr. Md. Mahmudur Rahman, also addressed the gathering, sharing their expertise and wisdom. Prof. Dr. Sharmin Reza Chowdhury, the honorable Head of the Department, urged the outgoing students to uphold the ideals and reputation of the university in their professional journeys. He encouraged them to maintain close ties with the Department's alumni and consider organizing knowledge-sharing and experience-sharing events with them.

The honorable Head of the Department, Prof. Dr. Sharmin Reza Chowdhury handed over the crest to the chief guest, Mr. M.F.M Masudur Rahman and The Dean of the Engineering Faculty Dr. Md. Mahmudur Rahman handed over the crest to the special guest Brig. Gen. Md. Sayeed Anwarul Islam. Following this, the honorable Head of the Civil Department handed over the crests to the class representatives of newly admitted batch as well as all the outgoing students.

Following the formal session, the "AUST Civil Week" transitioned seamlessly into its vibrant cultural event, where the students of the Civil Engineering Department enthusiastically and actively participated. This segment of the event was a true showcase of talent and the cultural richness within the department.

In the end, the event left an ineradicable mark of emotion and memory among the participants. It served not only as a platform for artistic expression but also as a reminder of the bonds forged within the department and the enduring impact of shared experiences. The "AUST Civil Week" cultural event was a testament to the department's commitment to nurturing both academic excellence and the holistic development of its students.
