The Department of Arts and Sciences was established in 1995 with the aim of teaching courses in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English, Economics and Sociology for Engineering and Architecture departments. The Department of Arts and Sciences has introduced M.S Program in Mathematics starting from Spring 2010 under the Faculty of Engineering, AUST which is approved by the UGC Bangladesh and presently a number of good students are studying in this program. The MS will have specialization in Applied Mathematics, Computing Mathematics, Financial Mathematics and Bio-Mathematics. MESSAGE FROM HEAD

Welcome to the Department of arts and Sciences at the Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology (AUST). The Department of Arts and sciences is one of the founding departments of the Ahsanullah University of Science and Technology. The Department of Arts and Sciences is a multidisciplinary Department in nature. Since the inception of the university in 1995, the Department of Arts and Sciences has been playing a pivotal role by offering the courses on fundamental sciences, social sciences and humanities, which are mandatory and integrated with the undergraduate programs offered by all the engineering Departments and School of Business of this University. The primary objective of this Department is to develop and enrich the conceptual, practical, intuitive and analytical skills of the young undergraduate learners of various disciplines.

Besides providing quality service to the different undergraduate programs, the Department of Arts and Sciences is also offering a M. S. in Mathematics program, approved by the University Grand Commission (UGC). The aim of this M.S. program is to provide quality education to the students and produce quality specialists in the different fields of Mathematics.

Currently, the Department of Arts and Sciences serving with 40 (forty) full-time dedicated faculty members who possess excellent academic background. Among full-time faculty members 17 have Ph. D. degrees, 17 faculty members of different disciplines are pursuing Ph.D. programs in different Universities in home and abroad and 01 faculty member is pursuing M.Phil. program in home. The faculty members are devoted and committed to conduct world-class interdisciplinary research in the diverse areas of different disciplines.

M1: To disseminate both theoretical and practical knowledge in all areas of natural sciences, humanities, and social sciences among undergraduate and graduate students.

M2: To provide a high standard of education compatible with the recent advancement of science and technology and socio-economical requirements, enabling students to understand fundamental concepts of the sciences, arts, and social sciences in a world being rapidly globalized.

M3: To develop analytical thinking, creativity, effective communication skills, leadership qualities, ethical values and a sense of social and civic responsibility for a sustainable passion of life-long learning among students through scholarly activities.

M4: To encourage the quest for new knowledge and a deeper understanding through innovative research among the students.
